Day 20: June 29
Today was a big day for us as we knew we had a 7 mile pass to achieve today. Our intentions were all in the right place. We went to bed early enough last night and woke up early this morning. Apparently the day had another thing planned; within the first mile rear tire got a flat. About 20 minutes later second flat on the rear again. By this time it was already close to 11:00.
we tried to get over the frustration from the flats and continued up the climb to get over Lost Trail Pass and about another mile after that over Chief Joseph Pass.
After climbing our way to the top we headed down making a stop at the Big Hole Battlefield for Whistler to get a stamp in his national parks passport. Once we left there we rode through Wisdom (a.k.a mosquito ville). We were made well aware of what to expect by the locals, but once we came into Wisdom it didn't seem all that people said it to be. How we soon learned we were wrong. Little by little we were covered by mosquitos. Nick and I trying to slap them off while spraying bug spray at the same time. It began our race for the next 12 miles. It seriously felt like we were racing to survive them. I don't think we have ever rode as fast as we did today!
We made it through Wisdom ending our ride in Jackson Montana. We bunked ourselves at the Jackson Hot Spring Lodge. Great fun, food, hot spring pool, pool table and checkers, good conversation with the bartender.
