Day Twelve: June 21
I was chatting with my older sister Bron not to long ago on the phone just letting her know where we had arrived to now. Chit chatting about this and that and our children. The fact that our lives would not be the way they are without them.
Taking this summer to travel by bike across the U.S, is more than we could have ever dreamed it to be, more than anyone could have ever told us it would be. Twelve days into this journey and the three of us are going strong.
We weren't sure what to expect with Whistler, all we knew was what we have already experienced with him being in the chariot around town.
Yesterday was not really his day. For one he decided that he likes to sleep in, apparently time change and the fact that it's light out till 10pm might have something to do with it. The morning started out rough yesterday and somewhat continued on through out the day into the evening, he was ready for sleep once sleep arrived to say the least.
Today however; was a completely different story. Whistler was right back into being himself today and today was a day we tried to set aside for him, at least until 1:00.
We took our time this morning, no rush to get on the road. We decided that we would take the morning downtown for whistler to play at the city park in Coeur d'alene. They have this fabulous wooden park bigger than his big blue eyes...
This weekend is ironman Coeur d'Alene, so the expo happened to be right next to the park. Yes we took a moment to walk through the expo and Nick even happened to run into some guys he knew, so that was fun to see people outside of kona.
Around 1:00 we got back on the road or actually the Centennial trail that took us just about all the way to our Campground.
If you want adventure just travel with Nick. We get to the end of the trail , cut through cement barricades, continued up an old road to another road that is an old frontage road only to go back down both roads through the cement barricades, up another little road to a hole in the fence leading us out to the freeway... Yup that's right, we hopped on the freeway for maybe 3 miles got off at exit 22 and rode down to Wolf Lodge campground!!
Whistler slept the biking we did today, so the playground at the camp was his surprise when he woke up and he loved it.. A real cute place here for camping..
Oh and on the way I got to see my very first moose across the freeway drinking down in the water.. It was beautiful!!!

Some great pictures but I think I need to see more of the lady of the house, or wagon, or whatever. Take care and beware of the heat (100 + in MT and CO not to mention the fires in Colorado. DAD
